So, what is merluccius gayi?
Merluccius gayi, commonly known as Chilean hake, is a species of fish found in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. This highly nutritious and flavorful ingredient is often used in traditional South American dishes, such as ceviche and stews. With its delicate white flesh and low fat content, it is an excellent source of lean protein that can be prepared in a variety of ways, including grilling, baking, and frying. Sustainability is an important aspect of Chilean hake fishing, with strict regulations in place to protect the population and ensure responsible practices.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
