So, what is milchsäurekulturen?
Milchsäurekulturen is a German term that refers to "lactic acid cultures" in English. These cultures are a group of bacteria that are commonly used in food production, particularly in dairy products like yogurt, cheese, and sour cream. They are responsible for the tangy flavor and characteristic texture of these foods. Milchsäurekulturen convert lactose, the natural sugar found in milk, into lactic acid through a process called fermentation. This not only changes the taste and texture of the food, but also increases its shelf life and enhances its nutritional value. In addition, milchsäurekulturen have been shown to have potential health benefits, such as improving gut health and boosting the immune system.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
