So, what is milk sugar?
Milk sugar, also known as lactose, is a natural disaccharide that is found in milk and dairy products. It is made up of glucose and galactose molecules and has a slightly sweet taste. Lactose is an important ingredient in many food products, including baked goods, confectionery, and infant formula. It is often used as a bulking agent, preservative, and flavor enhancer. People who are lactose intolerant cannot digest lactose properly, leading to bloating, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. However, lactose-free alternatives are available for those with lactose intolerance.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
