So, what is minerals oil?
Mineral oil is a clear, odorless, and colorless oil that is derived from petroleum. It is commonly used as a food ingredient due to its ability to act as a lubricant, prevent oxidation, and provide a protective barrier to food. Mineral oil is considered a food-grade lubricant and is often used in the processing and packaging of food products such as baked goods, cereals, and snack foods. It is also used as a coating for fresh produce to help extend shelf life. Despite concerns about its safety, mineral oil is generally recognized as safe for human consumption by regulatory bodies such as the FDA.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
