So, what is mjölksyra?
Mjölksyra, also known as lactic acid, is a natural organic compound that is commonly found in dairy products such as yogurt and sour cream. This ingredient is produced by the fermentation of lactose, which gives these foods their characteristic tanginess. Mjölksyra is also used as a food additive to enhance flavor and act as a preservative. It has a mild sour taste and is commonly used in pickling and other preserved foods. In addition to its culinary uses, mjölksyra has many industrial applications, including in the production of biodegradable plastics and pharmaceuticals.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
