So, what is mononatrium glutamat?
Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a flavor enhancer commonly used in Asian cuisine. It's a sodium salt of glutamic acid, an amino acid found naturally in many foods such as meat, fish, and vegetables. MSG adds umami, the fifth basic taste, to dishes, giving them a savory, meaty flavor. While MSG has been controversial in the past, it's generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies worldwide. MSG is often used in small quantities to enhance the flavor of soups, stews, stir-fries, marinades, sauces, and snacks. It's a popular ingredient in many processed foods and restaurant dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
