So, what is muskotnöt?
Muskotnöt, also known as nutmeg, is a warm, aromatic spice that comes from the seed of the Myristica fragrans tree. Native to the Banda Islands in Indonesia, muskotnöt has been used for centuries in cooking, medicine, and even as a hallucinogen. Its flavor is complex, with sweet and nutty notes, and a slightly bitter undertone. The spice is commonly used in both sweet and savory dishes, including baked goods, soups, stews, and sauces. In addition to its culinary uses, muskotnöt has been touted for its potential health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
