So, what is natriumbensoat?
Natriumbensoat, also known as sodium benzoate, is a food preservative commonly used in processed and packaged foods. This white crystalline powder is derived from benzoic acid and has the ability to prevent or slow down the growth of microorganisms, including bacteria and fungi. It is often added to acidic foods such as fruit juices, soft drinks, and condiments to maintain their freshness and extend their shelf life. Despite its effectiveness, natriumbensoat has been associated with potential health risks in high doses, so its usage is regulated by food safety authorities.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
