So, what is natriumbicarbonaat?
Natriumbicarbonaat, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a white crystalline powder that is commonly used in baking as a leavening agent. It reacts with acidic ingredients, such as vinegar or lemon juice, to produce carbon dioxide gas, which causes dough or batter to rise. In addition to its culinary uses, natriumbicarbonaat is also used in medicine as an antacid to neutralize stomach acid and in firefighting to extinguish small fires. It has a slightly salty and alkaline taste and is considered safe for consumption in moderate amounts.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
