So, what is nigella?
Nigella, also known as black cumin or kalonji, is a small black seed that comes from the Nigella sativa plant. It has a slightly bitter, peppery taste and is commonly used in Middle Eastern, Indian, and North African cuisines. Nigella is a versatile ingredient that can be used in spice blends, marinades, bread, and vegetable dishes. It is also known for its health benefits, including its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Nigella is often confused with regular cumin, but it has a distinct flavor and appearance that sets it apart.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
