So, what is نشا الذرة?
Cornstarch, or "نشا الذرة" in Arabic, is a fine white powder derived from the endosperm of the corn kernel. It is commonly used as a thickener and stabilizer in a wide range of food products, including sauces, gravies, soups, custards, and baked goods. Cornstarch has no flavor or odor, making it an ideal ingredient for recipes that require a neutral taste. It is also a popular alternative to wheat flour for those with gluten allergies or intolerances. Due to its versatility and low cost, cornstarch is a staple ingredient in many kitchens and food manufacturing facilities around the world.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
