So, what is ostrich fern?
Ostrich fern, also known as fiddlehead fern or Matteuccia struthiopteris, is a nutrient-dense vegetable with a unique, earthy flavor. This fern gets its name from the curled shape of its young shoots, which resemble the head of an ostrich. Ostrich fern is rich in vitamins A and C, antioxidants, and fiber, making it a healthy addition to any meal. It is commonly enjoyed sautéed or grilled, and adds a delightful crunch to salads and stir-fries. Ostrich fern is mostly found in the Northeastern United States and is considered a seasonal delicacy.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
