So, what is ostur?
Ostur is a traditional Icelandic cheese made from cow's milk with a unique tangy flavor and crumbly texture. This cheese is aged for at least three months and has a distinctive aroma that is both earthy and slightly sour. The process of making ostur involves adding rennet to the milk to curdle it, then cutting the curd into small pieces before draining off the whey. The curd is then molded into round shapes and left to mature in a cool environment. Ostur is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes, from savory pies to grilled sandwiches.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
