So, what is ox bile?
Ox bile is a digestive enzyme extracted from the bile ducts of cattle. It is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine as a remedy for digestive disorders, particularly those related to the liver and gallbladder. The bitter-tasting fluid contains bile acids that aid in the breakdown of fats and the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. In culinary applications, ox bile is sometimes used as a natural tenderizer for meat, or as a flavor enhancer in dishes such as soups, stews, and sauces. It is also used as a dietary supplement to support healthy digestion and liver function.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
