So, what is palmeolje?
Palmeolje, also known as palm oil, is a type of vegetable oil derived from the fruit of oil palm trees. It is commonly used in food production due to its neutral flavor and high stability at high temperatures, making it suitable for frying and baking. However, the production of palm oil has been linked to deforestation, habitat destruction, and the displacement of indigenous people and wildlife. Sustainable and ethical sourcing of palm oil is therefore essential. In addition, some studies suggest that palm oil consumption may have negative health impacts, so it should be consumed in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
