So, what is palmitate acid?
Palmitic acid, also known as hexadecanoic acid, is a saturated fatty acid commonly found in animal and vegetable fats. It is a white, odorless, and tasteless solid at room temperature and is used in a variety of food products as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and flavor enhancer. Palmitic acid is a major component of palm oil, which is widely used in the food industry for its high melting point and oxidative stability. Despite its usefulness in food production, excessive consumption of palmitic acid has been linked to increased risk of cardiovascular disease and other health issues.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
