So, what is paraffine?
Paraffin wax, commonly known as paraffin, is a white, odorless and tasteless wax derived from petroleum. It is a popular food ingredient used to coat fruits and vegetables, cheese, candy and other confectionery products. Its ability to create a protective layer helps to preserve food and prevent spoilage. Paraffin is also used as a coating for chewing gum, making it less sticky and easier to handle. It is considered safe for consumption in small quantities, but excessive consumption can lead to digestive issues. Paraffin is also used in cosmetics and medical applications, such as ointments and creams.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
