So, what is pektine?
Pectin is a naturally occurring polysaccharide found in various fruits, vegetables, and plants, including apples, citrus fruits, and sugar beets. It is widely used in food production as a gelling agent, thickener, and stabilizer, especially in the manufacturing of jams, jellies, and fruit preserves. Pectin is also a source of dietary fiber and has been studied for its potential health benefits, such as reducing blood sugar levels, improving digestion, and promoting cardiovascular health. Pectin is available in different forms, including powder, liquid, and as an ingredient in pre-packaged mixes. Its unique properties make it a versatile ingredient used in both sweet and savory dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
