So, what is phosphate calcium?
Calcium phosphate is a mineral that is commonly used as a food additive, referred to as phosphate calcium on ingredient labels. It is an essential nutrient that helps to strengthen bones and teeth, but it can also act as a preservative and texture enhancer in processed foods. Phosphate calcium is often added to dairy products, baked goods, and canned vegetables to improve their shelf life and consistency. While it is generally considered safe in small amounts, high levels of phosphate calcium consumption have been linked to health issues such as kidney disease and cardiovascular disease.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
