So, what is pinon?
Pinyon, also known as Pinon or Piñon, is a type of pine nut that grows on several species of pine trees throughout the American Southwest. Pinyon nuts have been used for centuries by Native Americans as an important food source and are still highly valued for their rich, buttery flavor and nutritional benefits. Pinyon nuts are often used in traditional dishes such as Pueblo Oven Bread, but can also be roasted and eaten as a snack or used as a flavorful addition to salads, baked goods, and other dishes. Their unique taste and texture make them a sought-after ingredient in both culinary and health circles.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
