So, what is plantaardig vet?
Plantaardig vet is a Dutch term that translates to "vegetable fat" in English. It refers to any type of fat that is derived from plants, such as coconut, palm, soybean, or sunflower oil. This type of fat is commonly used in food processing as a substitute for animal-derived fats like butter or lard. Plantaardig vet is often used in the production of baked goods, confectionery, and snack foods because of its ability to improve texture and enhance flavor. It is also preferred by some consumers for its perceived health benefits, as it is generally lower in saturated fat than animal fats.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
