So, what is pumpernickel bread?
Pumpernickel bread is a type of dense, dark rye bread that originated from Germany. Its deep brown color comes from the addition of molasses or caramel coloring during the baking process, which also gives it a slightly sweet taste. Pumpernickel bread has a distinctive texture with a chewy crust and a moist, tender crumb. It's often used in traditional German dishes such as reuben sandwiches, but can also be enjoyed on its own or as a base for open-faced sandwiches with rich toppings like smoked salmon or cream cheese.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
