So, what is saccharine?
Saccharin, also known as saccharine, is an artificial sweetener that is commonly used as a sugar substitute in various food and beverage products. It is derived from benzoic sulfimide and is approximately 300-400 times sweeter than table sugar. Saccharin is commonly used in low-calorie and diabetic-friendly products due to its low glycemic index and calorie-free nature. Despite its long history of use, saccharin has been a controversial ingredient due to concerns over its safety. However, it has been approved for use in many countries and is considered safe for human consumption in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
