So, what is schalottenlök?
Schalottenlök, also known as shallots, are small, elongated onions with a distinctive shape and flavor. They have a papery, copper-colored skin that encases a pale, sweet flesh. With a milder flavor than traditional onions, schalottenlök add depth and complexity to dishes without overpowering other ingredients. They are commonly used in French and Asian cuisine, particularly in sauces and dressings, and are often sautéed or caramelized to bring out their natural sweetness. Schalottenlök are a versatile ingredient that can elevate any dish with their unique flavor and texture.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
