So, what is schwefeldioxid?
Schwefeldioxid, also known as sulfur dioxide, is a colorless gas with a pungent, choking odor. It is commonly used in the food industry as a preservative and antioxidant to prevent discoloration and spoilage. It is particularly effective in preserving dried fruits, wine, and beer. However, it can also cause allergic reactions and asthma attacks in some people, especially those with a sensitivity to sulfites. Schwefeldioxid is regulated in many countries, and its use in food is limited to certain levels to ensure the safety of consumers.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
