So, what is sezamu?

Sezamu, also known as sesame seeds, is a tiny, oil-rich seed that is commonly used in various cuisines worldwide. These seeds come in various colors ranging from white, black, brown, to yellow and can be consumed raw, roasted, or ground into a paste known as tahini. Sezamu is an excellent source of protein, healthy fats, fiber, and minerals like copper, manganese, and calcium, which are essential for bone health. These tiny seeds are also known for their nutty and slightly sweet flavor, making them a versatile ingredient that can be used to add flavor and texture to dishes like salads, stir-fries, and baked goods.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like sezamu?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
