So, what is silicate?
Silicates are a group of minerals that contain silicon, oxygen, and one or more metals. In food, silicates may be used as an anti-caking agent, preventing clumping in powdered products such as spices, cheese, and dried milk. They can also act as a glazing agent to improve the appearance of confectionery products. Silicates have low toxicity and are generally considered safe for consumption by regulatory bodies. However, excessive intake may lead to accumulation in the body and potential health risks, so it is important to consume them in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
