So, what is sorbitsirup?
Sorbitol syrup, commonly known as sorbitsirup, is a sweetener derived from the sugar alcohol sorbitol. It is often used as a sugar substitute in food products due to its low glycemic index and minimal impact on blood sugar levels. Sorbitsirup has a sweet taste similar to that of sugar, but with approximately 60% of the sweetness. It is commonly used in sugar-free candies, gum, and other confectionery products. Additionally, sorbitsirup has a high viscosity and moisture-retaining properties, making it an excellent ingredient for enhancing the texture and shelf life of baked goods and dairy products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
