So, what is spargel?
Spargel, also known as white asparagus, is a seasonal vegetable prized for its delicate flavor and tender texture. Unlike green asparagus, spargel is grown underground, which prevents it from developing the chlorophyll that gives green asparagus its color. This results in a slightly sweeter and milder taste than its green counterpart. Spargel is typically harvested by hand and requires careful handling to prevent damage to the delicate spears. It's a popular ingredient in German and European cuisine, and is often served steamed or roasted with butter or hollandaise sauce.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
