So, what is stearyl erucate?
Stearyl erucate is a natural plant-derived wax ester that has various uses in the food industry. It is a combination of the fatty acid stearyl and the unsaturated fatty acid erucic acid. This ingredient is commonly used as a lubricant, emollient, and thickening agent in various food products. It is often added to chocolate and other confectionery products to give them a smooth texture and prevent them from melting too quickly. Stearyl erucate is also used in margarines, dressings, and spreads to improve their consistency and texture. Its high melting point and stability make it an ideal ingredient for food processing and preservation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
