It is manufactured from tallow, which is rendered fat harvested from the adipose tissue of cattle, sheep, or other livestock. During chemical processing, these animal fatty acids are reacted with amino compounds to create a conditioning surfactant that generates foam and cleanses surfaces.

This substance is commonly listed on the ingredient labels of liquid soaps, facial washes, shampoos, shave creams, and some household cleaning formulations. this ingredient is not vegan because it is derived directly from animal slaughter byproducts.
