So, what is tamarillo?
Tamarillo, also known as tree tomato, is a fruit native to the Andes region of South America. It has an oblong shape and smooth, shiny skin that ranges in color from bright red to deep purple. The flesh is juicy and tangy, with a slightly sweet flavor that is reminiscent of tomatoes, passion fruit, and guava. Tamarillos are a good source of vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants. They can be eaten raw, but are more commonly used in cooking, where they add a unique flavor to sauces, jams, chutneys, and desserts.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
