So, what is tej?
Tej is a traditional Ethiopian honey wine with a distinctive taste and aroma. Made from a fermented mixture of honey and water, it is often flavored with the leaves and stems of gesho, a plant that grows in the Ethiopian highlands. Tej is usually served in small, rounded flasks called bereles, and sipped through a straw called a sorghum straw. It has a sweet, tangy flavor and a slightly effervescent quality that makes it a popular drink for special occasions, such as weddings and religious festivals. Tej is also believed to have medicinal properties and is sometimes used as a remedy for coughs and colds.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
