So, what is tørgær?
Tørgær is a Danish term for dry yeast, a popular and essential ingredient in baking. It is made from dehydrated strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a type of fungus that ferments sugars to produce carbon dioxide, which causes bread dough to rise. Tørgær can be found in small granules or powder form, and is activated by warm water or milk. This versatile ingredient can also be used to make pizza dough, sweet rolls, and other baked goods that require leavening. Its long shelf life and convenience make it a favorite among bakers everywhere.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
