So, what is tryffel?

Truffles, or tryffel in Swedish, are a highly prized and sought-after ingredient in the culinary world. These underground fungi grow exclusively in certain regions of Europe, typically near oak, hazelnut, and beech trees. Their distinctive aroma and flavor are often described as earthy, musky, and slightly sweet. Truffles are used in a variety of dishes ranging from savory to sweet, adding depth and complexity to any recipe. They are frequently grated or shaved over pasta, meat, or eggs, but can also be incorporated into sauces, oils, or even desserts. Due to their rarity and high demand, truffles are considered a luxury ingredient and can be quite expensive.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like tryffel?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
