So, what is vetemalt?

Vetemalt, also known as wheat malt, is a flavorful ingredient derived from sprouted wheat that has been dried and roasted. Unlike regular malted barley, which is high in enzymes used for brewing beer, vetemalt is often used in baking applications to add depth of flavor and complexity to breads, muffins, and other baked goods. Its nutty, slightly sweet taste is perfect for enhancing the overall taste profile of any baked good. Vetemalt is also an excellent source of protein, fiber, and essential minerals, making it a nutritious addition to any recipe.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like vetemalt?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
