So, what is xylit?
Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol that is often used as a low-calorie sweetener in foods and beverages. It looks and tastes like sugar but has fewer calories and a lower glycemic index. Xylitol is also known to have dental benefits, as it can reduce the risk of tooth decay by inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria in the mouth. This ingredient is extracted from various natural sources, including corn cobs, birch trees, and some fruits and vegetables. Due to its unique properties, xylitol is becoming increasingly popular as a healthy alternative to sugar in many food products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
