So, what is zob?

Zob is a lesser-known food ingredient that has been gaining popularity for its unique flavor and nutritional benefits. It's derived from the sap of the zob tree, which is native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia. The sap is collected by making small incisions in the bark of the tree, and then cooking it down to create a thick, sweet syrup. Zob has a distinct caramel-like flavor with hints of smokiness and bitterness. It's also high in antioxidants and has been traditionally used in natural medicine to promote digestive health. Zob can be used as a sweetener in desserts and baked goods, or as a glaze for meats and vegetables.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like zob?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
