So, what is amídon de maïs?
Amidon de maïs, also known as corn starch, is a fine, powdery substance derived from the endosperm of corn kernels. It is commonly used as a thickening agent in both sweet and savory dishes, such as soups, sauces, and puddings. Due to its neutral flavor and ability to produce clear, smooth textures, it is a versatile ingredient in many recipes. Corn starch can also be used as a gluten-free alternative to flour for baking, and is often used as a coating for fried foods to give them a crispy texture.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
