So, what is black beans?
Black beans, also known as turtle beans, are a staple ingredient in Latin American cuisine. These small, jet-black legumes have a dense, meaty texture and a nutty, slightly sweet flavor. They are packed with protein, fiber, and iron, making them a nutritious addition to any diet. Black beans are versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes, from soups and stews to salads and dips. They also make a great vegetarian or vegan substitute for meat in many recipes. Soak them overnight before cooking, or use canned black beans for convenience.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
