So, what is cultures?
Cultures are live microorganisms that are used in the production of a variety of fermented foods and beverages. They play a crucial role in creating distinct flavors, textures, and aromas in food, as well as providing important health benefits. These microscopic organisms convert sugars and other nutrients into acids, alcohols, and gases, resulting in a tangy, sour, or slightly acidic taste. Cultures are commonly found in yogurt, cheese, sourdough bread, kombucha, and kimchi. They are a natural and traditional way to preserve and enhance the nutritional value of food, while also promoting good digestive health.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
