So, what is fatty acids?
Fatty acids are essential components of fats and oils, and are crucial for proper bodily function. These organic compounds are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms, and can be either saturated or unsaturated. Saturated fatty acids are solid at room temperature and are typically found in animal products, while unsaturated fatty acids are liquid and are usually found in plant-based foods. Fatty acids play an important role in maintaining cell membranes, regulating hormone production, and aiding in the absorption of vitamins and minerals. A balanced intake of fatty acids is important for overall health, but excessive consumption of saturated fats can increase the risk of heart disease.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
