So, what is fractionated palm oils?
Fractionated palm oil is a highly processed food ingredient derived from the oil palm fruit. It is produced by breaking down crude palm oil and separating it into various components using a process called fractionation. The resulting product is a liquid oil with a high melting point, making it an ideal ingredient for use in many processed foods, including baked goods, margarine, and snack foods. Fractionated palm oil is often used as a substitute for partially hydrogenated oils, which are known to contain trans fats that are harmful to health. While fractionated palm oil is free of trans fats, concerns have been raised about its impact on the environment due to deforestation and habitat destruction caused by palm oil production.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
