So, what is lactic acid bacteria?
Lactic acid bacteria are a group of beneficial microorganisms found naturally in fermented foods, such as yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi. These bacteria play a crucial role in food preservation and contribute to the unique flavor, texture, and aroma of fermented foods. Lactic acid bacteria produce lactic acid as a byproduct of their metabolism, which gives fermented foods their characteristic sour taste. In addition to their culinary uses, lactic acid bacteria are also used in the production of probiotic supplements, which are believed to support digestive health and boost immunity.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
