So, what is lipoids/lipids?
Lipids, commonly known as lipoids, are a diverse group of biomolecules that play crucial roles in maintaining the structural integrity of cells, storing energy, and signaling. These organic compounds are insoluble in water and include fats, oils, waxes, phospholipids, and steroids. Lipids serve as a source of fuel for the body and aid in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. They also act as building blocks for hormones and cell membranes, and play a role in regulating inflammation and immune response. While necessary for proper bodily function, excessive intake of lipids can lead to obesity, cardiovascular disease, and other health issues.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
