So, what is oat groats?
Oat groats are the whole, unbroken kernels of the oat grain, harvested from the oat plant, with the hard outer hulls removed. They are produced through agricultural harvesting followed by mechanical dehusking and cleaning, which leaves the cereal germ, bran, and endosperm intact. Oat groats serve as the primary raw material from which rolled oats, steel-cut oats, and oat flour are milled.
Food manufacturers commonly list oat groats in whole-grain breakfast cereals, hot porridges, granolas, baked goods, artisan breads, and certain grain-based meat substitutes. They are also sold as standalone dried grains intended for boiling, steaming, or home milling.
oat groats is vegan.. They are derived exclusively from a plant source and undergo mechanical processing that does not require animal ingredients, animal byproducts, or animal-derived processing aids at any stage of production.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
