So, what is partially hydrogenated soybean oils?
Partially hydrogenated soybean oils are a type of fat that is commonly used in processed foods for its stability and texture. This oil is made by adding hydrogen to liquid soybean oil, which transforms it into a more solid and stable form. Partially hydrogenated soybean oils contain trans fats, which are known to increase the risk of heart disease and other health issues. Due to their negative health effects, many food manufacturers are now using alternative oils that do not contain trans fats. However, partially hydrogenated soybean oils can still be found in some processed foods, so it's important to read ingredient labels carefully.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
