So, what is sternanis?
Sternanis, also known as star anise, is a highly aromatic spice with a unique, star-shaped appearance. It is commonly used in Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine and is known for its licorice-like flavor and warm, sweet aroma. The spice is harvested from the fruit of an evergreen tree and is dried before use. Sternanis is often used in savory dishes such as stews and soups, but it also adds a rich depth of flavor to sweet dishes like desserts and baked goods. Its potent flavor and distinct shape make it a popular choice for garnishing dishes, and it is also used in the production of certain alcoholic beverages.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
