So, what is absinthe?
Absinthe is a highly potent alcoholic beverage made from the leaves and flowers of the Artemisia absinthium plant, also known as wormwood. It is a bright green liquor that has a bitter, herbal flavor, with hints of anise and fennel. Due to its high alcohol content and thujone, a chemical compound in wormwood, absinthe is typically consumed diluted with water and sugar. The drink gained notoriety in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with artists and writers such as Van Gogh and Hemingway being known to enjoy it. Despite being banned in many countries in the early 1900s, absinthe has since made a comeback and is now enjoyed around the world as a unique and complex spirit.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
