So, what is acide stéarique?
Acide stéarique, also known as stearic acid, is a saturated fatty acid commonly found in animal and vegetable fats. It is a white, waxy substance that is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. Acide stéarique is often used in the production of cosmetics, candles, soaps, and as a food additive. It acts as a thickening agent and emulsifier, and can improve the texture and stability of food products. In the food industry, it is used in the production of margarine, chocolate, and other confectionery products. Despite its name, acide stéarique is not harmful and is considered safe for consumption in moderate amounts.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
